Anger, bitterness, rage, desperation,pain .. All these feelings come out from this superb album, that immediately captures the listener. Influenced by numerous bands like Korn, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins , even Nirvana , Staind create their own unique sound. Metal riffs, angst-driven voice, emotionally disarming lyrics.
The general idea of the songs' structure in this album is alike. Most of the songs start with an acoustic verse and they end up bursting up in the heavily distorted chorus. This can be a major drawback and a bit tiring if you don't like this kind of music. On the other hand, if you do (like me) , this album is a masterpiece.
Apart from the major mainstream hits, "It's been a while" and "Outside", the album includes variety of great choices. It includes the acoustic piece "Epiphany", brutal-voiced metal-like song "Can't believe", heart-breaking "Waste", one of my lyrically-favorite "Suffer" and the list goes on from the first to the last track of this album.
